What is SOLID WOOD FLOORS
There are many types of solid wood flooring, but solid wood floors, also known as hardwood, are,
of course, the original wood floor.
A solid wood floor is, as the name implies, a piece of solid
wood from top to bottom. Its finished with oil or lacquer and with tongue and
groove edges. The manufacturing process is simple. The logs and logs of raw
material of the chosen wood are cut at sawmills around the world in various
lengths, widths and thicknesses.
These raw woods are then transferred to floor factories
where they are classified and further refined by cutting to specific sizes.
They are then sanded and often machined with grooved tabs and ends or chamfered
edges. The cut woods are dried in an oven to bring them to a specific humidity
level suitable for the country of destination.
This creates an very good solid wood floor suitable for the
consumer. Often the floor is pre-finished with a lacquer or oil before packing
it in boxes. At Wood Floor Warehouse, all of our solid wood floors come prefinished.
They went back to solid wood like oak and were used only as
structural materials, which were then covered with decorative surfaces such as
carpets or stone. Once you realized the beauty of the finished woods, it was
common to remove the floor covering to reveal the beautiful woods underneath.
Then, they were often sanded and finished in oils or lacquers. Of course, today
the subfloors are constructed from floor boards with a decorative wooden floor
installed on the top.
Nowadays, solid wood floors have never been so popular, not
only because they are so practical and timeless, but a real hardwood floor can
be a hallmark.
